Dr Liz Murray
Liz is an award winning artist who works with oils to produce conceptual fine art predominantly focusing on female figurative exploration. 'I'm now in a place where I want to use my experiences as a doctor to influence my art; invoking thought to instigate change'.
Hey! I am the face behind Sam Weston Photography, I am so beyond excited to be joining the Mortal and Strong team and cannot wait to get started! Hearing from so many incredible, brave and brilliant women is an absolute honour - their willingness to be vulnerable is inspiring. My biggest goal for this project is simply to do them justice and help get their stories heard!
Deborah is an acclaimed artist who whilst studying for her BA Hons. in Fine Art Central Saint Martins, Deborah exhibited at the British Council in Milan. Having participated in Sky Arts PAOTY, Deborah has an impressive exhibition history. 'When painting portraits the aim is to always emphasise a psychological narrative thread, which also offer layers of personal meaning whilst allowing for individual representation.'
Ruth is a mixed-media fine art painter residing in London. Their work comprises exploring themes of their identity and marginalisation of their queer, disabled body. 'I cast words, thoughts and motifs onto canvas using paint as a conduit for self acceptance'.
Lucy is an award-winning traditional artist and tattoo artist who is best known for setting up the UK's first mastectomy-tattoo charity (Nip). 'This has become my life’s work, nipples are still a taboo subject even though most of us have them (including mammals) it should be normalised and discussed in a healthy way without being sexualised!
Jean is a successful artist of mixed media and sculpture work including body casting. She creates unique pieces of art celebrating life in all its guises. Whilst exploring movement and human energy through her artwork, Jean also uses her experiences from living and working internationally.
Liv Collins is an emerging artist, writer and feminist curator based in the Northeast of England. Her practice revolves around themes of celebration, queerness and gender identity. Diving into a range of unique subjects, from deep-sea shrimps to Welsh poetry, Liv explores those which are underappreciated and overlooked by mainstream perspectives.
